Making mistakes
When studying a second language, we often feel insecure and ‘stupid’ because we are not able to communicate as effectively as in our first language. We become afraid to try; afraid to make mistakes.
It is important to realise that making mistakes is an essential and perfectly normal part of the learning process. Making mistakes does not indicate failure to learn but actually indicates that we are learning!
We learn to speak a language gradually – slowly, slowly! We can’t wait to learn all the vocabulary and all the grammar rules before we start to speak.
Remember: you need to SPEAK and DO to learn a language effectively so stop being afraid of making mistakes and take every opportunity to practice!
